Rebuilding life after addiction is a critical step in long-term recovery. Establishing new routines, activities, and relationships isn’t easy. Evolve Life Centers and the Baltimore County Sailing Center have partnered to create an avenue to launch a new chapter in life for those who have battled addiction.

This innovative program will host more than 75 Evolve Life Centers’ residents at the Baltimore County Sailing Center at Rocky Point park in Essex, Maryland. Participants will learn fundamental sailing skills as a part of their recovery process in weekly sessions between Memorial Day and Labor Day.

“Learning to sail is just a part of the BCSC experience. On the path to the feeling of freedom that sailing provides, sailors learn teamwork, communication, decision making, resilience, and build self-confidence. These skills are what we are really teaching in all of our programs,”
Rob Deane, BCSC Executive Director

“Our goal at Evolve Life Centers is to provide a place for people in early recovery that will help them create a foundation in life without the use of drugs and alcohol. A lot needs to change about an individual who is trying to rebuild a new way of life and we believe that this partnership will help with that goal. For someone just entering into this process, everything is a new adventure and sometimes this process can be scary. With this collaboration we are hopeful that horizons are broadened, new possibilities will arise, and people will realize that anything we put our mind to can and will be accomplished with dedication and discipline. We couldn’t think of a better way for people to get reconnected with the beauty of life than by getting people out there as a team, working together, and seeing first hand how amazing the world is.”
